Singapore may not be the first country that comes to mind when thinking about car manufacturers, but the country will make a splash with its first electric hypercar – the Dendrobium – at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. The car was developed by Vanda Electrics and Williams Advanced Engineering — famed for its work in Formula One racing.
Technical details for the Dendrobium have been kept at a minimum thus far, however it was reported last year that the car could be propelled by four Yasa electric motors — with a total output of 1,500 horsepower and 4,000 newton-meters of torque. It was also previously reported that the car could hit 100kmh from a standstill in under 2.6 seconds, and hit a top speed of 400 kmh.
Vanda Electrics says the car will utilise “the latest in e-powertrain development”. Its exterior design is said to feature a roof and doors, which will open up in a synchronised theatrical manner, resembling a fully-opened dendrobium flower, a genus of orchids native to Singapore. Further details regarding the Dendrobium will be revealed over the coming weeks.
